Unsigned business terms leaving agencies exposed

CV “flicking” and presenting candidates to clients without signed terms of business continues to expose recruitment businesses to significant risk of disputes, a legal advisor says.

Clients generally don’t sign terms of business, which is a key pain point for recruiters when they’re aiming to move ahead quickly on an assignment, Corvus Group director Martin Richardson told a recent Captain’s Table event hosted by Navigator Consulting.

Recruitment leaders at the event noted the problem is still rife in the industry, with one admitting some agencies aren’t even meeting candidates, “they’re just getting CVs and flicking them”.

Richardson says businesses can protect themselves against disputes in a number of ways, starting with more clearly defined terms.
