1. Write a call script and practice until it becomes natural
  2. Make sure you have something of value to offer the other person e.g. market intelligence, access to a top candidate or an invitation
  3. Create a list of calls to make. Then start calling and don't stop until you have finished
  4. Think only of positive call outcomes. Thinking negatively will more often result in a negative outcome
  5. You are a professional with something of value to offer clients and candidates. Don't forget this!
  6. Schedule admin tasks such as database updates, emails and resume preparation outside of peak calling times
  7. If phone work is not natural to you, ask for help and coaching
  8. Before picking up the phone, close your eyes and recall a time call went well
  9. Smile when talking on the phone. It makes you sound more confident, friendly and engaging
  10. Be brave. Even if you are not, pretend! Nobody will know the difference.
